...was born in Glasgow to Polish parents. She has been singing and playing the piano since childhood. She graduated with a B.A. Hons. in Visual and Performing Arts (majoring in Music) from Brighton University in 1993. She followed this with a diploma in jazz studies from Chichester College.

She has been writing and performing with Hanna Burchell for the last fourteen years,contributing her unusual blend of Celtic and Eastern European roots to the heady mix.

These two contrasting individuals have toured internationally as Shamana but now create magic together as Hanna and Magdalena. Their collaboration has resulted in three CDs, the most recent of which, 'Invisible Threads' is now available on 'Latest Records'. Their eclectic style encompasses jazz and folk.Their contrasting voices perfectly compliment each other, weaving haunting harmonies.'The Insight' described them as 'soulful, sensitive, delicate and strong'.

As a solo artist her vocal style has been compared to Marlene Dietrich. She is one of the star jazz singers at Brighton's Kroon Kat Lounge and is currently recorded an original jazz album called 'Blue for Latest Records. As a session artist, her voice has graced numerous recordings.

She is also a talented harpist and plays for weddings,funerals and special occassions either solo or with classically trained flautists (see www.uditamusic.co.uk ).

She is well known for her work with cabaret trio 'Mandy and the Magdalenas', who have been described as 'Cole Porter in corsets'.Their hilarious CD 'Pearls' is available through their website www.mandyandthemagdalenas.com.

Magdalena lives near the sea with her 14 year old son and a Bechstein grand piano. Her home is often the venue for 'Healthy Concert' soirees where many of Brighton's finest musicians come together to create original material.
